Khan Academy Reflection

The video I chose to watch on Khan Academy was over adding and subtracting fraction. While watching this video I learned teachers teach the material different. This video provided good information to learn what was being taught. The video showed good examples and showed how to work out the problems. When I learned all this material we wouldn't use technology as much. We learned it from the book and the teacher would give us examples on the board and would do guided practice with math problems. I feel like a video like this helps out a ton. While doing online classes I don't like when teachers just throw assignments without teaching the material and us having to learn it ourselves. So even a video like Khan Academy offers is a great tool to learn the material or giving us short clip of what we should learn. I as a future teacher do plan on using Khan Academy but not rely on it. I want to teach the subject first so the students can get familiar with it then offer the video so they can understand it fully or better. As a student/learner I learn better when the teacher is very detailed in teaching. I like for the teacher to explain everything we need to learn to fully understand the lesson and do the assignments correctly. So I would like that teacher and student engagement and not rely so much on videos only.

list of your questions or inquiry

TPACK: (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) is used informing us how technology should be used in our future classrooms. TPACK has three forms of knowledge, content, pedagogical, and technological. Content knowledge is your knowledge on the subject or lesson, pedagogical is knowing how your students learn and getting that information to them, technological is applying your knowledge in technology with whatever is available to you. Learning and taking advantage of your technology will improve the students learning.

*What are the benefits of TPACK?

*What are some ways we could integrate TPACK in our lesson plan?

*Is Web 2.0 beneficial in a classroom?

*Can web 2.0 be overused?

*Will technology surpass humanity?

*Will technology affect the economy?

Reflection on Google Classroom

Google classroom will be beneficial in my classroom in many ways. Engaging with classmates, the assignments will be posted online so students can have access to them, as we learned last week all students learn different according to Gardner so this will be a different way of learning the material, parents can be engaged in what their kids are doing, better communication, and no lost work or papers because everything will be online. I will implement google classroom by posting assignments on there, announcements, quizzes, etc. Parents will have access to see how their kid is doing in the classroom. Overall, I will most likely use google classroom and have access to everything easier.

How technology changes our life in some respects such as education, medicine, life, the way we communicate, and the way we respond etc.

While watching the video on how technology has hijacked dinnertime, I saw how this video relates to our daily lives. We are constantly on our phones, tablets, watching tv, etc. that we don’t even try to communicate verbally anymore. We are being distracted by technology and taking our communication away from our family. It also takes a lot of your time away. We could sit for dinner and not speak one word because we are all on our phones. There is times where my husband and I do tell each other to put phones away and have an actual conversation and will do that for a couple of days and then we forget and go back again to using our phones during family dinner. My daughter gets real upset when I turn the tv off or take phone or tablet away, she cries hysterically. But I understand in some way it is my fault since I gave her all that to begin with. I could say though that these couple of years, one of my goals to accomplish was to take technology away from my daughter, especially the phone and tablet. I do feel like I don’t let her use that as much anymore. I feel like as a parent I should guide her not to use as much technology. She is only four she don’t need phone or tablet. Although technology may have some cons, it also has its pros. We live in a different world and I also understand how important technology has been I feel that kids/students are becoming more smarter with all that is provided to them. Scientist and doctors have a great advantage now with all the technology that is provided to them. Doctors  may have better outcomes for their patients. Improvements on medication and cures for diseases. I do believe technology has helped doctors find more cures for diseases. Although technology has its cons it also has helped many. We need to get used to the fact that this is our new life style.
